📅 2025/2026 European Championship Schedule: What You Need to Know

With the 2024/2025 season coming to a close on May 31 with the Champions League final at the Allianz Arena, all eyes are already on the resumption of the 2025/2026 European Championships . And I might as well tell you right away: the schedule is shaping up to be extremely busy .

The reason? The expanded 2025 Club World Cup , which will be held from June 15 to July 13 in the United States, will involve 12 European clubs. In other words, the stars of the game will have little respite before embarking on a season that will itself lead straight to the 2026 World Cup. A big one.

🗓️ The dates for the resumption of major championships

🇬🇧 Premier League: Kick-off on August 16, 2025

The English championship will start its season on August 16, 2025 , and will end on May 24, 2026. As in the previous season:

  • ❌ No matches will be scheduled on December 24 .

  • ⏱️ A minimum delay of 60 hours between two matches will be respected.

  • 🗓️ 33 days will be played on weekends, 5 on weekdays.

📌 The official calendar will be released on June 18 at 9:00 a.m.

🇪🇸 La Liga: same date, same intensity

La Liga also resumes on August 16, 2025 , one month after the end of the Club World Cup.
On the program:

  • 🎄 Christmas truce from December 21, 2025 to January 2, 2026 .

  • 🏆 In January: Spanish Super Cup and Copa del Rey .

  • 🔚 Last day scheduled for the weekend of May 23-24, 2026 .

📅 The official calendar will be unveiled in early July after the RFEF general meeting.

🇩🇪 Bundesliga: staggered but structured resumption

The Germans are keeping their tradition: the Bundesliga starts on August 22, 2025 .

  • ❄️ Winter break : from December 21 to January 9 .

  • 🔚 Last day: Saturday, May 16, 2026 .

📌 Official calendar planned for early July 2025 .

🇮🇹 Serie A: uncertainty made in Italy

As is often the case, the uncertainty remains. Italy's major clubs (those competing in the Club World Cup) are pushing for a start date of August 23, 2025 , but no official date has been set.

  • Italian Boxing Day? Not confirmed.

  • 📆 Details to come at the end of June 2025 .

⚠️ A supercharged calendar until 2026

Between the Club World Cup , the domestic season , and then the 2026 FIFA World Cup , the players will literally be playing without a break. The coaches will have to manage the squad to the millimeter , and the fans will have non-stop football . Good news? Not for the hamstrings.
